FAQ’S

How come you don't bake everyday like other bakeries?

You're heard, however given the nature of MM (and by nature I mean size of bake team (1) and premises) it's simply unfeasible to bake everyday.

You've 'Sold Out' of the product I want but you bake to order, what gives?

I'm sorry. Being small scale means keeping a lid on batch sizes is imperative. Two hands (4 when I'm lucky) can only produce so much food!

We have an allergy concern.

Here at MM HQ, we take allergies very seriously however, we only operate from the one baking premises which handles nuts, seeds, soy, dairy, egg and wheat products daily. Please let me know of any allergies when you order your cake or goods, however I must impress upon you that cross contamination of allergens cannot be completely ruled out.

How will you decorate my cake?

All of MM's creations come decorated- free of extra charge with flowers from the bakery garden. The bakery garden, like any home garden, is at the mercy of the seasons and so your cake will come adorned with what is looking particularly special on that given day (to have a look at how the seasons are currently playing out, you can take a squizz at my Instagram page). If you have a particular look you love, please let me know and I will do my very best to assist!

My cake is for a special occasion and I want it to match my theme

Fair enough! Please have your florist put aside extra blooms for your cake and ask that your cake comes without adornment.

The birthday person doesn't like flowers, can you do something different to decorate?

I can indeed, I will decorate for non-flower lovers usually with a mixture of home-grown herbs or leaves, dried fruits etc. Fear not- your cake will still come looking the goods!

Can you write on my cake?

I can pipe simple written messages on larger cakes, at an extra price.

Can I order a cake that isn't currently on the menu?

You certainly may! If you have loved a past flavour or would like to workshop something bespoke for a special event we can definitely arrange. It will, however come at an extra base cost of (+$25) depending on extra elements and any extra research/ product sourcing.

How long will my cake last?

This comes down entirely to the cake. Cakes with fresh dairy based icings (whipped cream) are best consumed on the first or second day from purchase. Cakes with buttercream or meringue will last longer usually (up to 3-4 days). Please let me know if you will not be consuming your cake the day of purchase so that I can decorate accordingly!

How to store my cake?

In the fridge will keep the cake looking it's freshest (and for dairy based icings this is essential storage). However, cake is best enjoyed at room temperature, so for a small cake give 2 hours at room temp before serving and a large cake 2+ hours (note: not in direct sun or overly warm conditions, about 23 degrees is perfect)
